Physical Education

PE covers a wide range of activities including gymnastics, games skills, dance, athletics, swimming and outdoor adventurous activities. These are organised in such a way as to promote development of physical skills, body control, safety awareness and health consciousness. We have an extensive range of apparatus and resources for use in these areas of the curriculum. Our facilities include a hall, studio, two large playground areas and use of an adjacent sports field.

Arising from extra curricular sporting opportunities we have various football, netball, athletics and swimming teams which compete in local leagues and events . We have had coaching support from Gloucestershire Sport Development Officers for rugby and short tennis skills. Two of our staff have RLSS/ASA swimming qualifications and use their skill to support children who are learning to swim. There are weekly football and netball clubs where younger and older players are coached by teachers and skilled parents. Our footballers won the outdoor 6-a-side competition and our team was second in the league this year.
We continue to have a trail of sporting stars in school as 2 of our boys have represented Gloucester in the City Football Team again this year. What good sporting ambassadors we continue to have!
Our children, from Reception to Year 6, have the advantage of regular lessons by a professional Dance teacher as part of the PE curriculum.
It was a feature of our 'Artsmark' award that this was recognised as a positive contribution to provision in the performing arts.
Our range of after-school clubs includes girls and boys football.
