Science

Children need scientific skills in order to make sense of the physical world in which they live. We encourage children to become enthusiastic and confident investigators, working in pairs, in groups and as individuals. This is how planning, discussion and evaluation skills develop.

Through their investigations children will begin to understand the importance of science in everyday life. Domestic, environmental and industrial contexts will provide starting points for this learning. They will be encouraged to hypothesise, to test ideas and to analyse results. They will learn to present their findings using drawings, charts, models, demonstrations, written reports and appropriate scientific vocabulary. They will also learn to consider and respond to the findings and ideas of others.
