At the end of the week the children shared what they had learned with the rest of the school in a sharing assembly.
We also have an open evening for parents, showing the video of the week, photographs and a display of children's work.
The aims of World Awareness Week are to enable our children gain a meaningful insight into different cultures and develop a greater understanding of the lifestyles of other people around the world.
This also links into our Spring half term value theme,
which is tolerance.
The week provides an exciting learning experience for the
children, giving them an awareness of the rich diversity of other cultures and the opportunity to appreciate the
similarities and differences.
It forms a major part of our work on citizenship.
" Children learn to understand and respect our common humanity, diversity and differences so that they can go on to form the effective, fulfilling relationships that are an essential part of life and learning."
