World Awareness Week 2002
At Abbeymead Primary school we strive to promote positive
values to encourage an ethos that celebrates diversity
of experience and interest to generate mutual respect and greater
understanding of other cultures.
'Walk in someone else's shoes,
See the world through different eyes,
Understand how others live,
Appeciate how others feel.'
During the week from March 11th to 15th, 2002 each year group chose different countries to focus on for the week:-
Reception - Canada
Year 1 - Australia
Year 2 - Italy
Year 3 - Spain
Year 4 - Japan
Year 5 - Peru
Year 6 - China
As well as all the activities the teachers planned for their classes on their particular country,we had a wide range of visiting artists, musicians and speakers. The children were able to immerse themselves in the culture of their country through all the curriculum areas.
