World Awareness Week with Reception

In Reception the children learned about Canada and the lifestyles of the people who live there.
The structured play area became the frozen North of Canada, complete with igloo. The children constructed and decorated a tepee to play inside as well as a six-foot totem pole.

The children were able to contact a school in Canada through the internet to compare the similarities and differences between our school and a Canadian school.
The children had a pancake and maple syrup breakfast and the muffins they made were delicious!
Shelley Campbell visited both classes to teach the children to paint in traditional native Canadian style.
The display shows innuit laughing masks,mini totem poles and Canadian native art.
